What Lean is

Removing everything that adds no value from the process.

Lean is the name the West gave to the Toyota Production System. It targets seven wastes:

  1. Overproduction

Producing more, or sooner, than needed.

  2. Waiting

    People or machines standing idle.

  3. Transportation

Moving things around without adding anything.

  4. Overprocessing

Steps the customer does not value.

  5. Inventory

    Excess stock that hides problems.

  6. Motion

    Searching, extra walking, bending down.

  7. Defects

    Doing the same thing twice.

What we do

Lean tools, in your process and with your team.

You do not need to do it all at once: the assessment defines where to start.

  • Value stream mapping

We walk the process with your team and map where things wait, pile up or get reworked. The plan comes from there.

  • Kaizen and problem solving

Tackling problems with method: go and see, find the root cause and test solutions.

Why us

Continuous improvement, seen from inside Toyota.

For us, Lean is not a set of loose tools. It is a way of working that starts where the work is done and is sustained by the people who do it.

Frequently asked questions

What people usually ask us.

Does Lean work outside the automotive industry?

Yes. It was born at Toyota, but it applies in food, metalworking and chemical plants, in warehouses and in logistics.

What about office work?

That too: paperwork waiting for a signature, data entered twice, errors that come back as complaints. 5S and flow mapping apply the same way.

Where do you start?

By looking at the real process and choosing a pilot area. Often the first step is 5S. There is no need to buy software or equipment.

Do I need ISO 9001?

No. They can be started separately, and what you organize with Lean is a good foundation for a management system.
